Another Winter Storm

my area was one of the areas affected by the winter storm that hit yesterday and is still going strong. we had a big ice storm last year around this time that shut the schools down. school was canceled today, but the bf still had to work. he had to drive my car since his isn't working...he got stuck this morning but we were able to get the car out of the hole.

i had just finished watching "bad girls club" and was starting in on "the real housewives of orange county" but i couldn't really concentrate because i heard this car making all of this noise outside. after 30 minutes i got frustrated and went to look outside and saw the bf trying to shovel my car out of the snow...

so i had to put on clothes and go help him, i took over shoveling after a while and we were able to move the car a few feet, but i gave up because the cold was getting to me. i broke a nail on my right middle finger, my left ring finger is swollen and i'll probably be sick for the first time this season...

my poor car's still out there stuck, but luckily they canceled school for tomorrow...i can still hear the ice hitting the windows.

Fighting Myself.

right now where i am with everything...i don't know what i want to do. i feel so displaced and not where i want to be or need to be in everything. i know everything happens for a reason and God never puts more on you than you can bare, but i'm tired.

i look at everything around me and question why it is the way it is or what's so different that everything seems to be harder for me. i feel like i'm drowning from so much stuff and i keep asking God when will i get out.

idk, i'm just ready to move on from where i am right now. you can't live life to the fullest if it's always slapping you in the face. i protect myself from so many people...why should i give so much when no one wants to listen...

i'm fighting myself to get over it, make it through and move to the next phase of life. i just wish the phase was a little more happier.

so, i know i'm a little late...later posting the most other blogs, but it's been a long day and i just wanted to get this in before the day actually ended.

i saw history be made to day as the first african american president was sworn in (i skipped class and everything, ssshhh!) but it was a wonderful ceremony and the obamas looked beautiful as usual. i also caught some of the commander in cheif ball footage (i hope i said it right...)

but all in all it's been a wonderful and historical day! so to leave you all...a couple of pics of the fit today...

Get into It!

I Can Only Have so Many Loves...Maybe Not!

the weather is colder, bone chilling colder, and there is one thing that i love to keep on my feet...SOCKS! my family, the bf and sometimes friends try to clown me because i have and continually wear long, knee high tube socks. i love them because they keep me warm during the winter days and i can wear the shortest shorts, but not feel so naked...

don't get me wrong, i wouldn't walk out of the house with short shorts and tube socks unless i was either going to dance practice or to work out. believe me, i get enough stares during the warmer months walking to the student center with shorts and long socks on...people are used to seeing me in them and i'll definitely be keeping these socks around for a while!

TARGET HAUL!

on another note i made a stop at target on my lunch break yesterday. quick side step...i originally went to avon to get some more 24 moisture, because i was out and that's the only thing i use on my face. it's light and airy and works well with my sensitive skin. my face can breath and i don't have breakouts...i get there looking for it, because i saw it last month, but decided to come back to get it. the guy tells me they don't carry it anymore!

i'm like, i was just in here like 2 weeks ago what happened? he said they stopped carrying it at the beginning of this month and he doesn't know why...WHAT?! so avon just disregarded the valued customers who religiously used the product without even a slight heads up. i know they knew about it for a while and i know the lady knew about it when i came in 2 weeks ago and she should've said something about it, because i def would've stocked up. so i'm upset and plan to make a call to avon personally...

but anyways...i went to target after stopping at avon and only picked up 3 things...a pack of pens (12 cents! they didn't ring up and they were the last ones so she asked the manager and they said ring them up for 12 cents, so yay me!) then i got the cutest tote for school, because i needed a new one and i don't carry book bags anymore... plus the nivea soft moisturizing cream for my face. i keep the smaller size of this stuff in my purse and it's the only thing outside of the avon that didn't actually clog my pores or become too oily, even though the avon was the best, i'm just stuck with this...

sorry this is all over the place, but when i asked the guy what the replacement was for the 24 moisture he told me it was the hydrofrming cream which could be used for night and day. i have this stuff already and it only says for night on the container...there is no way that is a respectful dupe for the 24 moisture! that stuff is so thick and OILY that i have to barely put it on to keep from looking like a sweaty pig all day! i am so disappointed in avon right now...

but on to happier things...i got this weird card in the mail saying final notice call about recieving a free ipod shuffle, week stay at a hotel or $50 gift card...WHAT?! i'm thinking it's junk mail but i call anyway...so random, this guy answers and he's like are you from SIU or some other school (can't remember) i'm hesitant like...uuhhmm...SIU...? he's like "well there's going to be a meeting/seminar at the ramada inn by the walmart and all you have to do is come, stay for the whole thing, like 30-45 minutes, and you'll be able to choose one of the 3 things."

i'm like "SERIOUSLY?" i am the QUEEN of telemarketing and BS SCAMS! do i have idot written all over my face?! of course i didn't say that, but i'm like "i don't have to do or pay anything, just show up?" and he's like yea just show up, but i have to rsvp because it's filling up fast...so i told him to sign me up and i'm going to this thing at 2 today...it better not be a waste of my time, because i will def go off in there. they just called me this morning reminding me about it...so we shall see, pray i leave with my gift card, because i don't want to have to start no mess!

but anyways...i hope you all are having a wonderful weekend so far! YAY NO SCHOOL MONDAY! obama is official on tuesday!!!! i won't be there in person *tear* but i will be in full obama gear representing to the fullest and i hope you are too!

because the economy is in the ruts my job has been drastically cutting hours (so i'm looking for a second job) but i haven't been doing anything all week, outside of job hunting, but online window shopping. i got some moolah today and had one of my many impulsive buying attacks...i know it's sad :(

but, i see it as being things i actually needed...i got my ipod touch yesterday and it needs to be protected. i figured that out last night and today, because all i did was...

listen to music & play games...

so i went on ebay and found this pink case that i wanted that was on apple.com for $30 and i only had to shell out $20 plus free shipping! then i said, "well the screen has to be protected too..." so i found screen protectors that retailed for $15 for only $1 plus $2.99 shipping. so i said, "okay eva, you're done!" but as i proceeded to leave the ebay's home page something caught my eye...OBAMA TEES! i actually didn't think i would find anything i wanted for a reasonable price, but i did...the cutest tee with his face and president under for only $8.98 & free shipping!

yep, so i admit, i have a problem and i'm working on it...that's why i'm holding off buy a case for my camera even though i found on for $9.98 & free shipping. but i'm going to hold off for a littly bit...or maybe not!

Daddy's Girls Ep. 1...For Less?

New Beginnings...

okay, so the first episode of Vanessa and Angela's "Daddy's Girls" premiered tonight...i don't really know what to say about the show, i am liking it so far, but it's only the first episode it can go downhill pretty fast.

the series focuses on the girls' life in LA with their cousin jessica and neighbor alycia and of course it's not a simmon's show without rev. run. in this episode their cousin moves in with them and the girls deal with trying to get angela out of a "just got dumped by my boyfriend" rut. alycia sets her up on a blind date with a guy who is the total opposite of who she would normally date, but helps angela learn some new things about herself. i guess they had to come up with a way to end the show which looks like it will be one of the two typing a "progress report" to rev while he reads it aloud to justine...hhhmmm, don't know about that one...

idk if i'm going to do a "for less" with this show...maybe, maybe not, but it's still up in the air. i do know the heels angela wore on her blind date were FAB-U-LOUS! so, yea...still thinking about it and trying to get a feel for the show itself. so stick around and we'll see what happens next week...

Swimsuit Steals!

Looking Ahead towards Spring Break...

i know i said that i've been itching to shop for warmer weather and browsing different clothing sites DOES NOT help in controlling the urge to spend.

everyone knows victoria's secret (VS) is having their semi-annual sale and i usually wait to go in the stores until the final days when everything's marked down even more, but i visited the site out of curiosity and looked through the swimsuits they had on sale... they have different style basic tops and bottoms on sale for as low as $2.99! act now to get the colors you want in your size because i almost didn't get the color i wanted in both the top and bottom.

i paid $5.99 for the top and the same for the bottoms. i think that's a good deal, especially if you like to have more than one swimming suit. now i just have to make sure the body will be right when it's time to wear it!

New Shoes & Early Spring/Summer Shopping!

Time for a Little Change...

so, i get my ipod this week, yay! but since i had to wait the bf ordered me some more blowfish shoes (which got sent to his mother's house, so i had to wait a little longer to get them) but he got me 2 pair of the hobbit sneakers: one in black and the other in a pretty blue...

the blue ones are definitely more of a springish type color and it already has me anticipating a wardrobe change. idk about you guys, but i get started early shopping for the next season. most sites usually have some decent sales going on for the next season. i've been recently looking at sunglasses.

i feel kind of cheated, because i found these incredible pair of betsey johnson sunglasses on macys.com on sale for $40 and they retail either $80 or $90. i held off purchasing them and thought they would still be there to purchase later, but they were gone! i can still find them on the net, but definitely not for $40, boo...

but, i will be picking up a couple of pairs of shades from alloy in a few colors of the sunglasses i previously owned before i broke them...they run for $10.50 and they now have a wider color selection...

Book Spotlight! (Erotic City)

i know i just did a book spotlight, but i did say that i brought 2 books...what can i say about this book? first off i must have had one of my a.d.d. moments, because this book wasn't what i thought it was. okay, so the title is "erotic city," but sometimes the title doesn't really mean literally. i usually read the back of the book before purchasing and i think i erased everything i read, but one sentence that made it seem like it wasn't a sex book...

"but now something threatens to close the club's doors forever: a calculating, ruthless enemy who will stop at nothing to destroy Milan's dreams..."

yea...you'd think it wasn't just a sex book too. i'm going to be fair in this review, because i almost took it back when i found out what it really was about, and i'm not a big fan of majority sex scene books (i like to get to the point of the story) but this arthur pynk is a very good writer and she gives very good, in your face details. if you're into the sex type books she'll give you every single visual detail and then some...this book focuses on a female owner of a swingers sex club, milan. i never really paid attention to or wanted to know much about th swinging society, nor do i know anyone who is a part of it...when i say this is a very EXPLICIT book, i mean it and then some. besides the sex, the actual story itself was a good one, but i think the average reader would get lost in the sex scenes and lifestyle of the swingers and lose what the book is really about. the message is mostly female sexual liberation, i can understand that, but if you're not into graphic sex scenes describing oral, anal, vaginal and/or orgy activities then this is DEFINITELY NOT the book for you. i picked this up at borders as well and it ran for 13.99...my personal opinion, spend it on something else if you're not into that type of book, or if you like that kind of thing go ahead and buy it...

--p.s. this is more hardcore than an eric jerome dickey or zane book...

Book Spotlight! (The Midnight Hour)

WELCOME TO 2009!

so i took advantage of going to borders while i was in chicago since there's only a barnes & noble by my school and i had a coupon (yay!) i picked up two books, but this one focuses on Brenda Jackson's book "The Midnight Hour" a part of her Madaris series.

this was surprisingly my first book out of the series. i thought i had read a couple of others from the series, but didn't see them in my book collection unless i overlooked them.

this book was intense with having you totally hooked from the beginning to the end. i'm a mystery solving fein, and even though this is not so much about mystery as it is drama, it still has a way of fulfilling that urge.

the story focuses on a couple who were torn a part in tragedy and death, to later be pulled back together 5 years later; one with a new face and identity. that's all i can give you without giving it away and that's hopefully enough to make you want to go out and buy it. i mean it's only $6.99!

i'm definately going to make a trip to my barnes and noble to pick up more books from this series.
